April 8, 2014 PTG Meeting Minutes

Present: Michele Houtz, Michele Shawver, Shannon Stover, Lorie Wick, Danielle Yoder, Monica

Thank you to everyone who was able to attend.

Secretary Report: February minutes read, motion made to let minutes stand as is by

Shannon Stover and 2nd by Michele Houtz, voted and approved.

* Treasurer Report: Unavailable at time of meeting.

Old Business

* Denied $392.92 to take charter buses for the 4th grade field trip to Harrisburg. Standard

busing and other expenses were paid for by the district.

* Joining forces with Centre Hall Elementary at the Carnival Baked Goods table, May 9 &

10. There will be a Google Doc sent out to all parents at Centre Hall Elementary and

Rebersburg Elementary to sign up for time slots to work at the booth and donate baked


* $130 1/2 page ad approved for the Penns Valley High School Rampager yearbook.

* $78.00 was approved for 1st and 2nd grade field trip to Lake Tobias. The other expenses

will be paid for by the district.

* Shirt and Umbrella Sale went well and has been wrapped up. May repeat sale in the fall

and possibly sell sweatshirts.

* Yearbook: Lorie and Mrs. Miller proofread the yearbook. Lorie will be printing with Jostens

this week.

* Book Swap: Went well, but there was not a kick off this year, so not as many books

were donated. May think about a kick off next year to get the event started and increase


* Shannon will work on shirts for teacher appreciation.

New Business:

* A motion was made by Lorie Wick and 2nd by Shannon Stover to have a yearbook

signed by the staff and students and given to Ms. Wilson. Voted and approved.

* School Sign: Karl Leitzel designed sign in 1998. Karl submitted an estimate for a new

sign to PTG. The total cost of the sign would be $614.80 excluding installation. The

current sign will be preserved in some way. A motion was made by Michele Houtz and

2nd by Lorie to approve the funds to purchase a new sign for the outside of the building.

Voted and approved.

* Track and Field Day: Hoagies will be picked up Wednesday evening. Water will be

provided for the students by the PTG.

* Nominations can currently be made for next year’s officers and accepted through May 2,

2014. Nominations should be sent to Monica Martin. Elections will be held at the May


Teacher’s Corner

* Mrs. Weidel requested PTG funds for pizza for a fraction activity day with Centre Hall

Elementary kindergarten. A motion was made by Monica and 2nd by Lorie to approve

funds for the kindergarten pizza and supplies for their trip to the Mobile Ag at Centre Hall

Elementary. Voted and approved.

* Mrs. Dawson requested $.50 per child for their field trip to Bellefonte and the penny candy

shop, which is part of their economics unit. A motion was made by Lorie and 2nd by

Michele Houtz to approve funds for the 2nd grade field trip to Bellefonte and the penny

candy shop. Voted and approved.
